Summer is the season of sunshine and slowing down but between busy schedules, heat waves, and social commitments, it’s easy to forget to prioritize yourself.
Here are my summer self-care tips to help you feel balanced, hydrated, and glowing from the inside out:
Protect your Skin
Sunscreen is my daily go-to and should be yours too. Protect your skin with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and don’t forget to re-apply every two hours especially when outdoors!
Tip: Add a wide-brim hat, sunglasses for extra sun defense and effortless style.
Stay Hydrated
Hot weather and active days means losing more fluids than usual. Stay hydrated by keeping a water bottle on hand. I enjoy infusing my water with cucumber, mint and/or lemon for a cooling, spa-like vibe or fruit-infused water, herbal iced teas, or electrolyte drinks during and post long walks or workouts.
Embrace Slowness
Busy summer days call for intentional slowness. I like to start my morning with light stretches, journaling, or spending quiet moments in nature and a 10-minute meditation, sunset walk, or reading helps me wind down in the evening. Slowness reconnects you with joy and presence.
Refresh Your Diet with Seasonal Foods
Eating seasonal foods can support your digestion and energy levels in warm weather. I enjoy incorporating summer produce like berries, watermelon, cucumber into my meals and/or smoothies. Try lightening up your meals with seasonal salads and grilled vegetables. Seasonal foods not only delicious but they’re packed with hydration and antioxidants.
Make Space for Joy
Self-care isn’t only about rest, it’s also about having fun. Say yes to spontaneous outings, music in the park, or late night dates. Let summer be a reminder that joy is part of wellness.
Self-care in summer is all about balance - soaking up sunshine, socializing, unplugging, staying active and resting. Listen to what your body and mind need and enjoy this sunshine season.
